BIOMECHANICAL PERSPECTIVE OF SWIM DIVING
Stability
Stability allows greater control in movement which assists with the performance of executing variety of skills. This is essential in swimming diving as the blocks are presented on an angle which can reduce the amount of stability that the swimmer has causing more chances of false starting. This can affect an individual who may want to perform the grab start dive as the feet are positioned next to one another within close vicinity and reduces the base of support, not allowing for much movement backwards for supplying extra force (see impulse). This dive may reduce the range of motion the swimmer has, reducing the stability in motion and restriction in the amount of force in which is applied.

As the images show, the track start has a larger and wider base of support (see red arrows). This allows more backwards movement which assists with creating impulse.
